The room (superior villa) was very good and big enough for five person. The breakfast buffet was also good, but the restaurant was too expensive and too posh for us.
The only nearby local restaurant country bar was very good and the price was 1/3.
Beware of the Free drinking water in the minibar, it is not always free.
The beach is good but you can t swim in the water. The water in the pool had a distinct smell, but I guess it was OK.
It is a remote hotel, and overall I think that there is a mismatch between the rooms/price and the restaurant, ex. the waiters was too servile and not so welcoming as on other hotels

I was very impressed with the hotel from check-in to check-out. The rooms were actually better than the website photos, and location was perfect, being in a quiet secludeed location with stunning views. You can hire a scooter or car to get around easily, and it is easy to explore the whole island from here. The restaurant was an open-air terrace, great views and food and not overly expensive. Happy Hour at sunset (5-7pm) offered 2 or 1 drinks at the Beach Bar, and during the day beach was not crowded and lovely for snorkelling. Recommend this hotel to anyone, families, singles or couples, and would definitely return. Excellent value for money.

Arayaburi is a bit out of the way but it is a peaceful and serene resort. It suited my group fine as we needed the rest. The staff all speak English which was helpful. We tried to find some fault with the resort but could not find any. The food was excellent presentation was fantastic overall it was an excellent time spent there

Very kind staff, nice secluded location, about 15 min drive from Chaweng. Also not crowded now in the low season, we had a week of sunshine. For longer stay renting a motor is a must. I recommend renting from the hotel as the locals can rent you a motor in bad shape or with cut tires, hoping you/d get in a crash so they can charge for the damage. We had to change it and pay for it by ourselves,with kind help of the hotel rental. Its definitly worth the extra cost for renting here.

A very very nice hotel at a really lonely and totally quitebeach( only3 hotel in this bay). This is a really perfect place for relaxing- u have 2 pools and the beach- nothing more nothing less!! I seldom saw so nice and friendly staff in thailand!! Whenever u want to go somewhere else they offer taxi service etc

We have spent nice week stay in the hotel. Hotel room not new but bungalowws perfectly ituated in wood/coconut trees area a very short walk to sea, reastaurant. Sea pool pefect and jacuzzi pool in the middle of the resort is more than perfect. The private beach is nice after cleaning (as first 2 days it was not cleaned). The only one problem is the travel to Chevang, the way takes 20 minutes and you should pay for hotel shuttle bus or taxi. In general I can recommned the hotel and will stay again if come back to Samui.

I always use Sawadee when travelling to Thailand (which I ve been doing for 21 years)and I d say this was the first time I made a mistake in choosing a resort. My family (myself, my wife and our 6 yr old) arrived on Jan 1st, 2009 having just spent 9 nights in Krabi and having booked the best bungalow (grand deluxe @ 5200Bht/night)and we we re shown to a complete dark, dingy, smelly excuse for a room at the back of the resort. We eventually persuaded the management that they had given us the wrong room, and were then shown to a beachfront bungalow more akin to what we were expecting i.e. clean, spacious with a big 4-poster and a great sea view. We dropped the bags off and had a look around. To say the place was deserted would be an understatement; the pool bar and restaurant remained closed for our 5 night stay and overall the resort looked a tired and fairly run down affair. Breakfast was served at an adjoining restaurant and was a soul-less affair, un-smiling staff who could nt even return a saswdee .
We had breakfast on day 1 and decided not to have it thereafter. The sea was very rough during our stay, great for body surfing, but only if you could deal with plastic refuse wrapping around your arms and legs, not nice! The resort is a long way from anywhere, great if you want complete isolation but lacking severly in that there are no facilities (i.e.a decent place to eat) should you choose to do so. The resort runs a shuttle into Chaweng at 100B/pp/per way or 150B one way. We didn t even get a goodbye as we picked our bags up to leave for the airport and quite frankly I was pleased to see the back of this place, I wiouldn t go back, even if they paid me. PS during our stay we popped in to see the staff at the World Resort, Bo Phut, having stayed there 2 years running...it was like visiting a different planet, true freinds and a real Thai warm welcome!!

Ver efficient, although I do not agree with paying in advance. Iwould have liked to have left the Arayaburi after 10 mins, but I would have lost my money as non-refundable. I believe this fact will lead to a loss of care from some hotel owners who are in a no-lose sitaution.

Upon arrival in Thailand we stayed at the Arayaburi Boutique Resort over the Christmas period with a 10 year old child. We found the location very beautiful and quiet yet with the facility of a jeep hire we could get out and about on Samui. Room was clean, cool and situated opposite a lovely small pool, tucked away in landscaped gardens-it felt like our own private pool. The staff were very friendly and attentive.If you are a traveller who requests towels constantly, then this is the place to stay! Breakfast was OK and Egg Corner most amusing!Good family or couple resort with lovely staff, would recommend you stay here for a good mid priced Samui base. See you next year!

Lovely aspect- lovely rooms - quiet and self contained. The service was good.
Restaurant was absolutely dreadful - the only thing we could come up with was that it was the slow season and there was no chef? So we would recommend taking the shuttle to one of the shop/restaurant areas.
We did not swim in the ocean as there was no sea life in the rock pools and they were full of sludge which was disappointing and probably due to infrastructure not keeping up with the large amount of new building on the island.
